Our flagship in The Somerset Collection is the heart of our operation, and our dedicated team of wine lovers are here for expert guidance: whether it's finding the wine that is perfectly to your tastes, walking you through a specific region, or trying unique wines that you've never had before.

We strive to be a place of comfort, excitement, and knowledge, a place not only for wine enthusiasts and collectors, but for anyone who enjoys a delicious glass every once in a while.

We regularly host tastings of some of our favorite wines of the moment, featuring special guests such as producers, importers, and other wine experts to give fantastic insight into the complex world of wine making.

Check out the link below to see our current lineup of tastings and other events, and let us show you what we love about wine.

Dan Reinisch - wine buyer

Wine first came to me out of necessity, needing to purchase glass pours for the classic cocktail bar I was running. The first things that really got me excited were Vermouths, Sherries, Madieras, and other dessert wines for use in cocktails.

I wasn’t ready for the broad and diverse world of fermented grape juice. Knowing I needed to learn more, I started to read and taste as much as possible, never buying the same bottle twice. The first serious wines that got me truly excited were shared around tables, by generous and hospitable friends, opening things that my novice palate was in no way prepared for. It was impossible not to fall in love. From there on out, it was a foregone conclusion, wine was going to be it for me.

These days I most love sharing classically styled Italian, Sparkling, and Fortified/dessert wines with friends, hanging out with my wife and our cats, reading, and talking about my e-bike.

Diego Aliste - Director Of Operations

In my early 20s, I started working with specialty foods – cheese specifically. I fell in love with the idea that the things we know, and love are parts of specific cultures (pun intended) that have remained the same since the beginnings of time. This philosophy of sourcing food with those principles became my north star when it came to the work that I wanted to be around.

My Journey led me to Spencer, a neighborhood wine shop and restaurant. Being part of a small team, everyone had to learn about wine regions and styles of wines we championed. Wine education happened once a week, with emphasis on blind tastings and making sense of what I like. The more I drank it, the closer and more curious I became of wine.

Once I moved to Detroit in 2018, my work focused on wine retail, and sharing my passion for natural wine. I spent a few years in restaurants, curating rotating tasting menus and understanding how food and wine have intentional relationships.

I love spending time with my daughters and drinking J.B. Becker Spätlese Trocken Riesling with my wife. I’ve been obsessed with hacking my old video game consoles and playing HD versions of retro games. I spend more time on the Grailed App buying shoes that I couldn’t afford as a teen. I’ve been DJing and producing music for the last fifteen years to keep me sane.

Felix Mccarthy - creative director

I first got into wine in a serious way in 2020, a time when we all were finding new hobbies. I had gotten a few books, read them, and was ready to start seeking out wine regions and varieties I had been intrigued by. It was at Western Market, that summer, where Diego found me wandering the wine section, book in hand riddled with sticky notes. After talking a bit, he recommended two wines from France, explaining that they were true representations of their terroir and the varietal of grape. Trying these wines quickly made me realize how truly beautiful wine can be, and they remain some of my favorite cuvées. I soon became fascinated with France, a trait inherited by my mother, and now spend time there a few times a year; seeking out wines that I cannot easily find stateside, visiting producers and learning about their process, and of course, eating lots and lots of yummy food.

Some of my favorite things are funky Champagnes, Chenin Blanc, Gamay, boeuf bourguignon, printmaking, reading, and hanging out with my cat.
