    Lutine x Coutale Wine Key

    Regular price $15.00

When Dan, our buyer, first starting to work on the restaurant floor as a Sommelier, opening dozens bottles of wine tableside every day, he felt the need for a more serious wine key. Over a few months he purchased several wine keys from different producers and different lines, testing how they held up over time and felt in the hand. A double hinged lever and high quality serrated blade were prerequisites, a slim profile was simply a bonus

Eventually, after testing out a few other Coutale products, he finally bought a Stainless Steel Coutale Innovation Wine Key. This key holds up incredibly well over time and became a part of Dan's daily carry, picked up with his house keys on the way out the door (the only reason he ever had to buy a second one was getting it confiscated at a Red Wings game, forgetting to take it out of his pocket).

When picking a wine key for the shop, this tried and true tool felt like the only choice.

Our keys are entirely made from stainless steel, with a serrated blade, double hinged lever, and teflon-coated worm (the corkscrew part).

We got them laser etched with "Avant l'Heure". This literally means "Before the hour". For us it's a statement of philosophy, highlighting those vigneron who have been farming intentionally because it's the right thing to do for the wines and the earth, without regard for marketing trends and formal certifications.

Coutale Wine Keys are designed in Cahors, France by Phillipe Bernède the proprietor and vigneron at Clos la Coutale. Beyond tending his family's vines, Phillipe loves to tinker. In addition to our favorite wine keys, he's developed tools to aid in the process of making and refining his Malbec-dominant wines. We couldn't be more thankful.
