Spottswoode Winery - Napa

The Spottswoode estate was founded in a large 19th Century farmhouse in St. Helena, Napa by the Novak family in 1972. Starting first as a grower who would sell their grapes to other wineries, the family began to bottle their own wines with the 1982 vintage.
The Novaks have long promoted organics and biodynamics, gaining their first certifications beginning in 1974. They want to promote stewardship and partnership alongside the earth, sustaining their business, their land, and their family for generations to come.
This long-term view is essential to the way they make wine their wines, too, allowing them to eschew trends and make classically elegant wines year after year.
Beyond an incredible Sauvignon Blanc (our favorites produced in the USA) they produce Cabernet Sauvignon and Bordeaux Blends that are always in style and have a heart and a soul.
Their Sauvignon Blanc grapes from Napa and Sonoma, goes through about 200 separate fermentations in a wide array of vessels - some neutral oak, some steel, some amphora, some concrete - before getting blended into the refined product that it is. We only wish there was more of the Novak's wines to go around; get them while you can!
